The Green Starters funding scheme is dedicated to identifying and supporting startup teams that have the intention to develop into environmental organizations, especially those that are highly mission-driven and focused on environmental issues. It is hoped that the emergence of more promising environmental organisations will promote the healthy and pluralistic development of environmental NGOs and that eventually the goals of conservation, environmental protection and sustainable development will be achieved.
Since its launch in 2012 until December 2023, the program has provided funding exceeding 45.31 million RMB to support 551 early-stage environmental public welfare organizations. These partner organizations are distributed across 31 provinces and regions in China, actively involved in various environmental topics such as habitat protection, pollution control, nature education, and waste reduction.
