Groundwater Conservation project aims to reduce groundwater extraction from agricultural activities by promoting water-saving crops and techniques. It also collaborates with local government departments to enforce relevant water-saving policies and maintain a balance in groundwater replenishment in the Alxa Desert agricultural area. With the premise of responsible groundwater usage, the project actively explores new environmentally friendly agricultural development models to help farmers diversify their sources of income. Ultimately, it aims to achieve the dual objectives of groundwater protection and increased agricultural income. Since 2009, the SEE Foundation has been promoting the cultivation of millet as a crop that contributes to both the local ecology and economy.
As of the end of 2023, a total of 2271.72 hectares of water-saving millet have been promoted, benefiting 759 households.
