Secretary General

  • ZHANG Li Secretary General

    Prof. Zhang is a field biologist on Asian elephant and the Professor of Ecology at Beijing Normal University. He joined the Board of Directors of the Society of Entrepreneurs and Ecology Foundation (SEE Foundation) and was appointed as the Secretary General of in April 2016. Before joining the SEE, he serves as the member of ethic commission of International Union for Biological Sciences, the member of the board of directors and vice secretary general of China Zoological Society, the member of IUCN Species Survival Committee -Asian Elephant Specialist Group. He serves as the member of Technical Advisory Group of the Monitoring of Illegal Killing of Elephant (MIKE) of the UN CITES Conversion and engaged in China’s national wide ivory trade ban since 2003. He works as the national coordinator on combating illegal wildlife trafficking and training expert of Asian Development Bank (ADB) as well as USAID funded Asia Regional Responses to Endangered Species Trafficking (ARREST) Project and WildAsia wildlife consumption reduction project in China. He is also the handling editor of Conservation Biology, one of the top journals in the conservation world. He has published over 70 research papers on China’s environmental policies, endangered species conservation, wildlife management and trafficking in peer reviewed journals including Nature, Science, Conservation Letters, Biological Conservation, Biodiversity and Conservation etc.

    Prof. Zhang is a well-known research scientist on China’s collective forest tenure reform policy, eco-compensation policy, protected area legislation, wildlife protection law, community conservation agreement and wildlife trade related policies. He was the China country director of the International Fund for Animal Welfare (2002-2006), the interim country director and program director of Conservation International China Program (2008-2013), and the national representative of Freeland Foundation/USAID Asia Regional Response to Endangered Species Trafficking (2013-2016). Prof. Zhang is also on the judge panel of Ford Motor Environment and Conservation Grant and working on grantmaking to support China grass root environmental NGOs’ capacity building since 2002.

Deputy Secretary General

  • YANG Biao Deputy Secretary General

    Joined SEE in 2018. PhD in ecology, mainly engaged in the research on the distribution, ecology and conservation strategies of rare wild animals and plants; field investigation and conservation research of pandas; conservation and management of nature reserves and economic and social investigations of surrounding communities; strategies for biodiversity conservation Research on conservation planning. Long-term review expert of Sichuan Forestry Department and various nature reserves protection projects. He has served as a member of the Chinese National Jury of the IUCN Green List of Protected Areas and a member of the 4th National Panda Survey Expert Technical Committee of Sichuan. Former Director of Field Projects and Field Offices of the China Foundation for Conservation International Foundation (CI), responsible for formulating the strategy of the International Foundation for Conservation, Freshwater, Climate Change and other project directions, and organizing the implementation of the project. He has published corresponding papers in international journals such as Science and conservation letter.

  • TIAN Yanping Deputy Secretary General

    Joined SEE in 2005. As the Deputy Secretary General in charge of finance, she has been in charge of the financial affairs of the organization for a long time. She is currently fully responsible for the financial management, budget management, internal supervision, and financial audit of funded projects. She has more than 20 years of financial experience and has been engaged in financial work in electronic information and other industries.

  • ZHANG Bowen Deputy Secretary General

    She joined SEE in 2011 and currently manages the foundation's international affairs and strategic planning. Majored in Public Administration. She has 13 years of experience in the public welfare industry, and was responsible for monitoring and evaluating environmental protection projects in international agencies.
